Hark! The herald-angels sing
"Glory to the newborn King;
Peace on earth and mercy mild,
God and sinners reconciled!"
Joyful all ye nations rise,
Join the triumph of the skies
With the angelic host proclaim
"Christ is born in Bethlehem!"

Hark! The herald-angels sing

"Glory to the newborn King!"

I love this song, but the version in the movie, Scrooge gives me a very happy memory. When my son, Taylor was a little boy, he and his Aunt Kathi and I would stay up late and watch this movie. If you have seen it, you know it has some scary parts when the Ghost of Christmas Future travels through time and appears to visit Scrooge, yet Taylor stayed right with us and watched it by our side for many years.

Taylor — in an attempt to mimic the British children in the movie who were singing “Peace on earth and mercy mild, God and sinners reconciled” — would instead sing “Thace on earth and mercy mild, God and sinners reckoned scott… Glory to the new boy king.”   This was the way he heard it and it made Aunt Kathi and me laugh to no end. To this day, we still sing it that way as a loving fun reminder of those wonderful late nights watching this musical version of A Christmas Carol.
