On-Site Worship Update & Expectations

06.15.20 | Stories | by Lucinda S. Sutton

This week marks the return of on-site worship to our calendar (for the first time in 12 weeks!) and while much will be comfortingly familiar, there are also many changes and adaptations.  Here is an outline of our new worship offerings and what to expect from each:

    1. Sunday Morning On-Site Services
Weekly at 8:30 and 11 AM in the Sanctuary
RSVP Required, taken from 8 AM on Mondays through 11 AM on Fridays until full.  RSVP to  or 615-444-3315

When You RSVP for Sunday On-Site Worship Services, You Agree to These Expectations:

    • Per guidelines given to us by our district, insurance providers, and the CDC, masks must be worn at all times by all people over the age of 2 who enter the building. We recommend bringing your own masks, but we will have masks on hand for those who don't have them. *For optimal effectiveness, masks should cover both the nose and mouth.
    • Greeters will be on hand at entrances to open and close doors for you. Please abstain from hugs, handshakes, elbow bumps, and other forms of physical touch.
    • The church has provided hand sanitizing stations at all entrances. Please sanitize your/your family's hands as you enter and exit.
    • Ushers will be on hand to escort you/your family into the Sanctuary. To minimize cross-contamination, those coming in through the West Entrance doors will be escorted through the west side Sanctuary door and into a seat along that aisle; those coming in through the East Entrance doors will be escorted through the east side Sanctuary door and into a seat along that aisle; and those entering through the courtyard/narthex doors will be escorted through the center doors and into a seat on the center aisle.
    • You/your family will be seated according to social distancing guidelines (at least six feet between households).
    • Restrooms will be available for emergency use only. We have shortened worship services to 45 minutes to help with this, and we encourage you/your family to plan ahead and use the restroom before you come to church.
    • Please wait for Ushers to dismiss you/your row before leaving. You will be escorted to leave through the same doors you entered.
    • At this time, we cannot allow congregating in the hallways or other rooms. Please move outside to gather, and maintain at least a six-foot distance between non-household members.
    • We will not have Sunday School, small groups, or nursery/child care at this time.
    • The Fellowship Hall, Parlor/Chapel, Library, classrooms, Children's Wing, second floor, kitchens, Family Life Center, playground, and Pavilion will remain closed at this time.

Who Should Plan to Attend Sunday On-Site Worship Services?

    • People who are healthy and whose household members are all healthy
    • People who do not have any underlying health conditions which would put them at risk for complications from the SARS-CoV-2 virus
    • People who are not caregivers of vulnerable members of the population
    • People who have not been exposed to someone who is sick and whose household members have not been exposed to someone who is sick
    • People who do not work or volunteer in high-risk settings (such as hospitals, health care facilities, grocery stores, food service, salons, etc.)
    • The CDC recommends that people age 65+ abstain from meeting in large group gatherings at this time.
