What to Expect at Lebanon FUMC

At Lebanon First United Methodist Church, you’re always welcome to join us for an active, authentic worship experience every Sunday morning in the company of friendly neighbors who'll make you feel like family!

Drive to the rear of the church from the east entrance, where you will find parking spaces reserved for our visitors.   Come through the garden entrance at the center of the back of our main building.

We hold two Sunday worship services weekly: one at 8:30 AM with a more contemporary format, and one at 11:00 AM with a more traditional one. Whichever you choose, our Greeters and Staff will meet you with a smile, as well as with individual assistance, bulletins, and personal guidance to get you where you want to go.

Services themselves feature:

  • Powerful music led by some of the best musicians in the Nashville area, featuring everything from contemporary worship to ancient hymns, current chart-toppers to classical favorites.
  • An uplifting and edifying message from the Bible, typically offered by our Pastor.  (In case you miss anything or just want to hear the message again, sermons are posted on the "Sermons" link every week for download or streaming.)
  • Communion on 1st and 3rd Sundays. Holy Communion is open to people of all ages and denominations. We observe Communion through a process called intinction, meaning we receive the wafer, dip it into the chalice, and eat. (Gluten-free wafers are available as needed.)
  • Prayers of the People on 2nd and 4th Sundays. This is a special time within the service where people can offer prayers and praises by means of Prayer Cards at their seats, or by coming to the front kneeling area.  Pastoral prayer and anointing with oil are also available up front.
Sunday School and Coffee/Doughnuts

A variety of Sunday School classes are available for people of all ages and stages of Bible experience...and in case you missed or didn't get enough breakfast, stop in at our Fellowship Hall for coffee, juice, and/or a doughnut between services!

What is there for kids to do?

Children are always welcome in our worship services!  Two to three Sundays a month,  our Children's Ministry Director or other leaders will present a Children's Moment during the service with a story and illustration just for them.

For families who need it, child care is provided during worship services in the Nursery for infants through three-year-olds. Quiet Bags with Bible-related activities are available outside the Sanctuary to help children ages four and up to engage with the service and be comfortable.

Sunday School Care/Classes are available for children from infants all the way through sixth grade. (All Lebanon FUMC Children's Ministry volunteers and staff are Safe Sanctuaries-certified.)

How do teens fit in?

In addition to our regular Sunday morning services, Lebanon FUMC Youth (grades 7-12) meet Wednesdays nights for a mid-week recharge called Pulse, as well as 2-3 Sunday nights each month for games and student-led worship.

Middle School and High School Sunday School classes also meet weekly and are open to students of all backgrounds and experience levels.  (All Lebanon FUMC Youth volunteers and staff are Safe Sanctuaries-certified.)
