Surprise!

September of 1984 changed my life forever. I was 31 years old and had been married for 12 years. I had always told myself that if we did not have a baby by the time I was 30, then it was not meant to be.

God had different plans for us. I found out that September day that I was 11 weeks pregnant. I did not know whether to laugh or cry, so I did both…for three days.  We were in shock to say the least.

The anticipation of a baby was overwhelming and scary. As old as I was, I did not have a clue on how to be a mother.

By the grace of God, we were chosen to be the parents of an amazing son who is now 33 years old. He is married and is a wonderful husband and father to our two precious granddaughters.

I can just imagine how scared Mary must have been when she gave birth to her Son, Jesus on that first Christmas… and when he was a 33 years old, to watch him suffer and die on the cross for all of us.
