A Drive Down Christmas Memory Lane
Lights have always been a special part of Christmas for me. I can remember as a child how we would always beg my dad to drive us around town to look at the lights decorating homes for the holidays. Then, during the “energy crunch” years of the 70s and early '80s, people were encouraged not to waste energy with so many lights, and Christmas just wasn't as magical as it had always been. Now people have begun to “light up” again with more and more elaborate designs each year. Our family usually spends a couple of evenings driving around just to see the Christmas lights.
During this special season, as we celebrate the birth of our dear Savior Jesus and enjoy the lights of the holidays, let us remember Christ as the true light of Christmas and his words from John 8:12: "I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.”
