Thank You for Acts of Love

Posted by Michele Rogers on December 18, 2025

This past year, my father, a retired long-time Christian Church Disciples of Christ minister, has endured 2 surgeries/rehab events back-to-back: a broken hip, and then months after, a broken femur. Throughout the surgeries, hospital stays, rehab work, and ultimate return home, my mother and sister have taken such good care of him. They have freely given of their time, energy, and love to literally nurse him back to health.

We are so very thankful that he is finally home and thriving. Throughout this whole ordeal his incredibly positive attitude has been a gift to all of us.

We have also had the privilege of seeing many of his former congregants (and dear friends) step up to visit him, sit with him so my mother can continue her activities that bring her joy, and provide food and many prayers. We are very thankful for all of these acts of love this holiday season and are blessed with God's loving arms surrounding us all during this time.

Reflect & Respond

  • What pastor or other spiritual leader has had the most positive impact on you in your lifetime?
  • What acts of love mean the most to you? Why is that?
  • Where may God be calling you to grow spiritually in the coming year? What do you think is the best way to start?
