Thank You for Your Goodness

Being thankful in all circumstances and knowing God is always with you is really easy when all is going well and you are “in control.”

However, in a world full of hate and chaos, where old friends disappear, medical issues wreak havoc on loved ones, personal time is impossible to get, and being a caregiver 24/7 absorbs all peace and energy…well, negative, unthinkable thoughts pound at me nearly every minute of every day. And when all else fails, regardless of my successes, I have come to realize I am not and have never been “in control.”

Neither gratitude nor thankfulness is is universally easy in the human spirit; they are foundations which come only from connection with God Almighty. When we cling to that connection, we can be thankful in all circumstances, even through the pain of the world we live in.

God is good all the time.
—I.M. Grateful

Reflect & Respond

  • What is overwhelming for you right now?
  • Have you ever been a caregiver? What was your experience of that?
  • Who takes care of you now? How do you treat that person?
