Local churches can support Hurricane Helene survivors and affected communities in a few ways:

1. Pray for our neighbors who are hurting as a result of the devastating storm, for the emergency responders, and for ministry partners in all the impacted UMC conferences.

2. Assemble UMCOR flood buckets. Follow these instructions precisely for assembling cleaning buckets, and bring completed buckets to the trailer outside the Spain House beginning THIS Sunday.

3. Financial giving is critical. Donations empower local responders to purchase the most needed items and/or offer immediate assistance to survivors.

  • To donate online, please use the church Giving Portal here. Choose Designated Giving, and enter "Hurricane Relief" in the memo.
  • We will also collect a special offering this Sunday through our Giving Boxes on site (write "Hurricane Relief" in your check memo or on your envelope).

We are thankful for UMCOR and all that they do to facilitate aid to those in crisis, and we are thankful to you for being the hands, feet, and heart of Jesus for our neighbors, now and always.

Lucinda S. Sutton has been a member at Lebanon FUMC since 2011. Despite her history as a self-published author, professional editor, longtime teacher/volunteer, and unabashed fangirl and blogger, many in the community still know her far better as Trinity, Micayla, and Jaden's Mom (she is mostly okay with this).  

Lucinda came to us from the United Methodist Publishing House where she had a hand in the creation, development, and editorial work for Cokesbury's 2017-2020 VBS curricula, as well as other pieces for Abingdon Press.  While her professional background also includes work in the fields of marketing, organizational management, operations, and even food service, her calling is now and has always been to serve for the betterment of church life and church work.  For all of this, she is profoundly grateful.
