Stepping Up to Fill Plates
Second Harvest Food Bank sounded the alarm about SNAP payments not being released this month, calling it an impending hunger crisis. Roughly 250,000 people in Middle Tennessee will immediately cross into food insecurity at this time. We recognize this as a Matthew 25:35 moment for the Church universal, and for our church specifically. We are reminded of our guiding missions to love and serve Lebanon, to Eradicate Hunger in Wilson County, and to be Lebanon's church.
With this in mind, we are asking our congregation to help us prepare to be there for our neighbors in one of three ways:
1. Assemble as many Food Emergency Kits as you can from the following items and bring them pre-bagged to the church Mon-Thu between 9-11AM or 3-5PM:
2 Single-serving cereal boxes or cups
2 Single-serve shelf-stable milk boxes
4 Protein/granola bars
4 Fruit cups or pouches
2 Single-serve microwave mac & cheese
2 Peanut butter or sunflower butter snack cups
2 Single-serving bags of crackers/pretzels
2 Single-serve peanut butter or cheese cracker packs
2 Pop-top cans of ready-to-eat pasta or soup
2 Single-serve packs or raisins/fruit
2 Pudding or Jell-O cups
4 100% Juice Boxes
2 Shelf-stable chicken or tuna salad kits
2 Small treats (cookies, fruit snacks)
2. Donate casseroles and/or items from our regular Food Pantry Family Bag shopping list (below).
3. Use this link to donate, and enter "Food Pantry" in the memo. You may also mail checks to the church office. (100% of donations with this memo message will go to supplying food for our neighbors.)
Thank you for stepping up and helping us be the hands and feet of Jesus in this season.
If you have any questions or further needs, please reply or contact Pastor Rebecca.
