Whitney Simpson
Cumberland University Wesley Campus Minister
Whitney worked with young adults starting with her first job in higher education (straight out of college, when she was a young adult). Since then, she has worked in a variety of nonprofit and church settings. As Wesley's Campus Minister, she gets to provide spiritual care (and fun!) for Cumberland University students.
Whitney and Troy have been married and residing in Wilson County for over 25 years. They enjoy living in their historic home in Lebanon and are learning to empty-nest as their son, Drew, finds his passion and purpose as a young adult. While related to several members of our congregation, she's "Aunt Whitney" to many of the youth in our church family and happily claims that title. You will find her biking, paddleboarding (with their family dog, Penny), or reading in her free time.
Fun facts: You may have heard Whitney invite you to take a deep breath before! She hosts a weekly meditation podcast and is trained as a yoga teacher and spiritual director. Whitney serves as a Deaconess in the UMC and is a published author who writes about embodied spirituality and spiritual formation.
Whitney offers a listening ear for Cumberland students who may never enter our church doors but know they are cared for by our congregation. She considers it an honor to be part of their spiritual journey on behalf of the United Methodist Church.
