What Does Christmas Mean?
What does Christmas mean to you
As, hustling on your way
You hurry to prepare for all
That happens on the day?
Have you paused to think of long ago
When shepherds on a hill
Heard angels sing, “A child is born
Peace now, to all good will?”
Have you realized, as carolers stroll
And bells their message chime
That Christmas happens every year
To remind us of a time
When God sent Jesus to save us
To show us of God’s power
To show us love in action
A presence every hour?
If Christmas means these things to you
Then you can truly say
Despite your hurried pace, you know
The meaning of the day!
Go share your joy with others
You’ll find within your heart
The joy you feel at Christmas
Need ne’er from you depart
But can live on in times ahead
Giving peace anew each day
Because you treasured Christmas
In the God-intended way.
